You heavens, bless the Lord … Sun and Moon, bless the Lord.
Stars of Heaven, Bless the Lord.
Blessed are You, Lord, in the firmament of Heaven.
Daniel 3
The January 6 Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the journey of the Magi (Wise Men) and
reflects on how they found the Baby Jesus in Bethlehem by following a brilliant star. The Magi
are fine role models in illustrating how we must always be seeking Jesus in our lives, and
understanding that God provides illumination for us in this search.
The Magi also brought wondrous gifts to the Christ Child. During Advent, our Epiphany
Parish Reunion Celebration emphasized “Hope, Healing, and Hospitality.” May we continue on
this path in the New Year by consciously committing to greater charity in our lives. Make time
for simple acts of kindness to family, friends and those in need.
FAMILY STAR GAZING GUIDE
As weather and safety allow, take a family star-gazing walk during the Epiphany
season. If possible, go to a park or other area with minimal artificial lighting. Look up to
the stars giving thanks and praise to their Creator. Reflect on how God is still guiding us
today, and vow to be open to that guidance during 2022. Find the brightest star in the sky,
and feel the joy and wonder of God’s love as the Magi experienced it worshipping Jesus in
Bethlehem at the first Christmas.
